Flicks: Gingerdead Man vs Evil Bong (2013)

Two underground horror baddies find out that cookies and weed are a diabolical combination!

Two latter day movie monsters clash in film that is completely filmed in Troma-vision but is in fact a Charles Band Full Moon Entertainment picture... complete with Asian rastas.

Monster #1: The Gingerdead Man - a Child's Play type of villain with serial killer Millard Findlemeyer's soul - originally played by Gary "Frickin" Busey. He first appeared in a short called The Baker's Dozen by Jethro Rothe-Kushel. This was made into a feature in 2005 by Full Moon.

Millard Findlemeyer, still a tasty but homicidal graham cracker, goes about looking for more victims in the next two sequels to follow including: Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust (2008) and Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver (2011).


Bro-o-o-h, this cookie is like... totally killer!

Evil Bong (2006), Monster #2, began in life as a Tommy Chong vehicle. This production happened just after his time in Taft Federal Prison from 2003 and a fine of $103,000 for selling bongs and paraphernalia in US vs Chong. The description for this films is: "a old giant bong proves to have strange magical powers. When smoked, said bong sends a person to a bizarre drugged-out alternate realm from which there is no easy escape."

In Chong's case that "alternate realm" was a nine month sentence bunking with the "Wolf Of Wall Street" Jordan Belfort.

The Evil Bong, a wise-cracking water bong that kind of sounds like Frankie Lymon, starred in two sequels after the original: Evil Bong II: King Bong (2009) and Evil Bong 3-D: The Wrath of Bong (2011).

This film, combining the two absurd "monsters" is much more watchable that the truly terrible Puppetmaster vs Demonic Toys (2004) or the other six films from the individual franchise. A great watch for Troma fans.

Flicks: Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD (1990)

The world's worst film studio brings you the world's worst super-hero. Make that second worst.

Troma has been a leader in entertainment since Mr. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Hertz opened the doors in 1974 however it wasn't until Kaufman directed the original Toxic Avenger in 1984 did the studio become well-known and successful. The Toxic Avenger series broke Troma into the big-time of home entertainment and spawning three sequels, a comic book series, a a red-hot series of toys for kids and even an animated show on the FOX TV network.

Ready to re-apply his formula for success in the same way that Toxie became an unlikely hero, Kaufman wrote Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD (1990). The picture's unlikely premise is that a hard-nosed NYPD cop by day is a mystical crime-fighting Japanese clown by night. Er - uhhhm, what exactly could go wrong with that kind of concept?

Despite being the perfect soundtrack vehicle for The Vapors "I Think I'm Turning Japanese" yet appropriately enough, this film was never widely released into the market and 6 years later Tromeo and Juliet (1996) signaled that Troma's golden age, largely surrounding Toxic Avenger sequels, was nearly over.

On April 7th 2010, Kaufman confirmed that a PG-13 remake of The Toxic Avenger was in development but nothing more has been made available. Another 1980's Troma classic, Mother's Day was remade and was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and produced by Brett Ratner (Cinco De Mayo). Kaufman also said that he is also negotiating a deal for remakes of Poultrygeist and Class of Nuke 'Em High.

Lastly, please note that Troma holds the annual Tromadance Festival in Park City, Utah in January at the same time as the Sundance Festival to accentuate their true independence from the mainstream.

Flicks: Roid Rage (2011)

The ol' Chernobyl prostate exam takes on a life of it's own in Roid Rage!

In the spirit of Peter Jackson's early horror work (Dead Alive and the classic Brain Dead for which he is NOT credited at IMDB) and Lloyd Kaufman's unique combination of horror and comedy Roid Rage (2011) director Ryan Lightbourn presents the ol' Chernobyl prostate exam taking on a life of it's own.

The site for Roid Rage states the film is the story of "a simple man who lived a simple life, until a genetic mutation sent his world spiraling out of control. Now, being hunted by the men responsible for his deformity Sammy must fight back with his unique abilities in order to survive. Those unique abilities include the giant killer hemorrhoid growing out of his ass."

This trailer will be distributed along with Charles Band’s Full Moon Pictures latest film “Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt” which goes on sale October 18th at Full Moon Direct.com and in selected DVD retail stores.

Troma, Lloyd Kaufman's infamous production company whose Toxic Avenger series made it synonymous with campy B movies, released this deranged, tasteless and deliberately stupid tale of Surfin' and Seig Heilin' set in the not-too-distant future on a radically changed southern California coast.


Axis powers do battle as Herr Hook prepares to gut the competition in Surf Nazis Must Die!

Rival gangs, the Samurai Surfers and the Surf Nazis, wage a turf war in a post-apocayptic California on the beach. Adolf, Eva, Mengele, Hook and Smeg face down Leroy's Mama, "Mama" Washington (Gail Neely). Seeking revenge for the murder of her son Mama Washington, after arming herself properly with a handgun and grenades, breaks out of the retirement home and sets out to exact bloody vengeance upon the evil Surf Nazis. The stuff hits the fan when Mama Washington tracks down the killers of her son in Surf Nazi's Must Die!


Burning hatred is always at the height of fashion in Surf Nazis Must Die!

This is among the first of infamous modern b-movie filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman's, the founder and president of Troma Pictures, movies. His company bears the dubious distinction of releasing the Toxic Avenger series, Tromeo and Juliet, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D and Poultrygeist upon an unwary world. Troma is still alive and very well - usually with one of the best stocked, best attended tables at any horror con in the Midwest.

Flicks: Blood Hook (1986)

Fishing Safety Hint #12: never, ever let the "slow" children near the tacklebox.

Jim Mallon, the co-creator of MST3K, had his directorial debut in a Troma release filmed in Hayward, Wisconsin in late summer of 1984. The movie was made four years prior to shooting the 14-minute pilot for Joel Hodgson's Mystery Science Theater 3000 that would set him on a strange course for a B-movie director: success.

This film, originally titled "Muskee Madness", sports the tagline of "Fishing Was Never Like This!" and features a psychotic angler whose unlikely M.O. involves hunting his unsuspecting victims with a giant fishing hook during a rural fishing contest.


Cousin Evelyn's secret to good fishin' starts and ends with two words: M-16.

Fortunately, this flick knows that it's a B-movie. In classic Troma fashion, it has it's share of laughs, bad dialogue and over-the-top performances.
